I am sure most of you have heard of James Van Praagh by now. He is a world famous medium and the producer of Ghost Whisperer, (one of my favorite shows that I TIVO because I refuse to miss out on any of the episodes.) Actually, it is the fact that he is the executive producer of Ghost Whisperer that lead me to read this book.
As I said in a previous post, I went to Amazon and looked up their top 50 books and this came up as one of them. I figured with the millions of books out there this one had to be good if it came up as a top 50 on Amazon of all places.
The book was good. It put some of my fears aside and made me realize I better shape up before it's too late! Something that struck me as curious is that two of the books I got from the library this past week both talk about Eckheart Tolle's book. This one, and another one about building yourself up to your potential. For those of you that don't know who Eckheart Tolle is, he is the author that Oprah has been ranting and raving about and giving online classes with.
Anyhow...back to the book at hand.
James Van Praagh says he has been able to hear voices since he was a baby in a crib. Amazing if you ask me. He goes on to share his story but very little of the book is about him and most of it is about ghosts.
He says ghosts are not as we picture them. The way the movie has shown us they are. They are NOT here to spook us. (Something I am extremely grateful to hear), but rather to help us. (Hallelujah! I need all the help I can get to get myself on track after my separation).
Apparently the only ghosts that linger around and we may fear are those that are "earthbound." Usually people who have killed themselves or died drastically. However, some stick around because they like it here or they don't want to let go of their memories. He gives a few examples in his book.
He goes on to explain how incredibly important our thoughts are and how they stick to us and how ghosts feed off them. That they get energy off negative thoughts and the more negative thoughts you have, the more ghosts you have at your side. And not the friendly ones either.
He goes on to explain possession and how he sees it. He says that he says a strong prayer of protection before leaving his house or ever entering a place that has a lot of negativity.
Apparently we have been fooled into thinking that if we are with a lot of people a ghost will never come to us, but if we are alone they will. WRONG. Ghosts LOVE being around people. The more the merrier. And a few places that you can find many of them hanging out at on a given day are nightclubs and churches. Yep you heard it here. If you drink or do drugs they get more attached to you. If you are holier than though and sit and stand at the pews every Wednesday, they are sitting there right next to you as well.
I'm not saying any of this with sarcasm. I do believe the nightclub/church deal.
The book is very informative. I have to say I learned something new and interesting on just about every page.
I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in this kind of a thing. I give it 3 1/2 stars
